...THE TILES YOU CAN TRUST!
There are plenty of nasty tiles on the market but how can you tell good from bad?
To the casual observer most interlocking PVC tiles look the same but key points are selection of raw material, quality of joint, surface mould detail and colour consistency. You may think “I’ll save some money” but a poor tile can cost you dearly in the long run! The easiest way to make a cheap tile is to compromise the raw material, given it’s a high percentage of the cost of manufacture.
Use your nose! We have saying at Tektile “if it stinks it shrinks”. If tiles have a strong smell the chances are the moulder is using poor quality compounds and fillers from a questionable source. Plenty of reclaim material can result in a terrible smell when installed, uneven shrinkage, poor joints and even colour difference across the floor.
Use your eyes! Join a couple of tiles together, the fit should be tight with only minor gaps when held up to a light source. The top surface should be accurately detailed, with the central injection mark hardly visible. The tiles should have minimal flash around the outer edges (flash is a symptom of worn or poor quality moulds)
Look at the back of the tile. If it has the TT watermark running across it you know you are OK! We are serious about quality and we’re proud to put our name on every single tile!
